Distortion #1: Steve worked for big tobacco.
Fact: Steve has never worked for a tobacco company.
Fact: Steve has never taken a campaign donation from a tobacco company.
Fact: Steve’s work for the California Chamber of Commerce (the subject of the smear campaign) was to elect members of the State Assembly who have actually fought for tougher laws on tobacco.
Distortion #2: Steve worked for the oil industry.
Fact: Steve has never worked for the oil industry.
Distortion #3: Steve has a record of working for developers at the cost of the environment.
Fact: The projects Steve is being criticized for got 63% and 68% voter approval ratings.
Fact: Steve has a proven record of preserving open space, protecting the Bay, and even helping to preserve the last tract of privately owned redwoods.
Fact: Steve has worked with Save the Bay & The Trust for the Public Land and is endorsed by the former heads of the Trust for the Public Land and the California League of Conservation Voters.
The Real Reason They Are Attacking Steve
The San Francisco Chronicle called Steve a "status-quo busting" independent. Steve stood up against the BART strike and he will stand up for you in Sacramento.
