SF Chronicle: Union Leaders Bully Glazer:
Strike stress: Orinda City Councilman and Democratic state Assembly candidate Steve Glazer got a little more attention than he bargained for the other morning when he was canvassing commuters on the idea of banning public transit workers from striking.
As the TV cameras covering the event at the Orinda Station were packing up, an off-duty BART worker joined in the debate, repeatedly interrupting Glazer as he was talking to riders.
When a Glazer supporter pulled out his cell phone to record the encounter, the worker grabbed it - then gave it back.
A newspaper vendor called BART police, and when they arrived, the BART worker charged that Glazer had stepped on his foot.
A BART supervisor was summoned to the station, and the employee was taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment of "anxiety issues."
A little while later, Glazer was having coffee in the nearby Europa Hofbrau when another BART worker came up to his table and told him, "Every union is going to come out against you - you have sealed the nails on your coffin."

With a BART strike looming which could gridlock the Bay Area and affect some 400,000 riders, Democrat Steve Glazer – a candidate for State Assembly — has become the first elected official in the area to back state legislation that would ban public transit workers from striking.
Glazer, a member of the Orinda City Council for nine years, announced the position Monday on his website for his campaign for the seat in the 16th Assembly District, which stretches from Orinda to Pleasanton and Dublin. He’s also been a longtime and close adviser to Gov. Jerry Brown, and serves on the Board of Trustees of the California State University system.

Heading east from San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley through the Caldecott tunnel are the sundrenched suburban communities of the East Bay. The 16th Assembly District lies here, which has been represented by Democrat Joan Buchanan. Buchanan was able to wrestle this district from Republicans in 2008, giving Democrats control of every single Legislative and Congressional District in the Bay Area.
Its no surprise this was the last district to fall to Democrats. The San Ramon Valley, which includes the communities of Danville, San Ramon and Alamo still remains the most conservative area in the Bay Area, but overall voters in the district are decidedly moderate.
This race has intrigued the Capitol because a major Democratic contender is Steve Glazer, the veteran political consultant who engineered Gov. Brown’s 2010 election victory but has since run into serious trouble with organized labor for his work on a pro-business PAC.

"That's twice that of Glazer's nearest competitor, Dublin Mayor Tim Sbranti, who raised $112,000 and ended with $100,000, records show."
